- TBS slows down their baseball playoff coverage to just two games tonight. First up is the ALDS Game 2 between the Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays. Apparently, the Chicago teams didn’t show up for the playoffs as neither one has a win yet.
8:00p/7:00 Central
- Then, at 8:30p/7:30 Central, the Angels try and pull off a win against the Red Sox in another ALDS Game 2. Baseball definitely wouldn’t qualify as one of America’s Toughest Jobs. Tonight on NBC, the contestants take on high flying bridge repair.
- Lots of premieres tonight, starting with one of the bigger mysteries of the summer. At the end of the Ghost Whisperer season finale, the six main cast members are lined up at a curb and Jay Mohr’s character notices there’s only five shadows. So what does it mean? Is someone dead? Mohr is off doing Gary Unmarried right now. Does that mean anything?
- Also returning is ABC’s Wife Swap, with tonight’s switch involving a twister chasing mother and a woman who’s paranoid of all the dangers in the world. Bravo offers up a unique look back at Americana with Tommy Hilfiger Presents: Ironic Iconic America, a companion special to his book Iconic America.
- MyNetwork TV launches their much ballyhooed premiere of WWE SmackDown! while CMT takes a look at another 20 Greatest Redneck Moments II: The Return of the Neck. Sadly, there are probably enough of these to make a Top 100 list. Just follow the people who blow it completely on FOX’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?
- The CW brings the funny with the premiere of Everybody Hates Chris in which Chris goes to high school and Tonya gets a job. It may be almost time to introduce a cute nephew or niece. On The Game’s premiere, pregnancy news blows up all over the place.
9:00p/8:00 Central
- Deal or No Deal settles into its new time slot on NBC. A little more challenging, is FOX’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics!
- Even more challenging is a game I developed around CMT’s My Big Redneck Wedding, premiering its sophomore season tonight. Take a shot every time you see a pick-up truck, a mullet, feathered hair or poor grammar. You’ll be drunk inside five minutes. That’s followed up by the season finale of Outsider’s Inn. See how things shake out with Bobby Brown, Carnie Wilson and Maureen McCormick trying to establish their bed and breakfast. Yeah, I don’t know either.
- CBS premieres their new drama The Ex List in which a young woman discovers that she’s already met her soul mate, but if she doesn’t reconnect with him in the next year she’ll never marry anyone. The concept seems as limited as Prison Break as far as subsequent seasons, but that show’s pulled off three more seasons so far.
- While TLC’s What Not to Wear helps the fashion impaired, ABC’s Supernanny comes back to help the behaviorally impaired. And teach parents how to parent.
- The History Channel continues looking into street gangs on their gritty Gangland. George Lucas keeps trying to see how much cash he can squeeze out of his greatest idea with a back-to-back premiere on Cartoon Network of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, with the episodes continuing from the feature film.
- For live action science fiction adventure, tune in to Sci Fi for the two-hour television premiere of Sanctuary. The series stars Amanda Tapping (Stargate: SG-1 & Atlantis) and revolves around her role in a world of time travel and clandestined populations living amongst us. It’s most known for being shot primarily on green-screen.
10:00p/9:00 Central
- Part two of Diane Sawyer’s interviews with the presidential candidates and their wive airs tonight on ABC’s 20/20. For news with a funny accent, tune into BBC America’s Newsnight instead.
- The History Channel continues its first person expose on key moments in history with the second season finale of Shockwave.
- In scripted fare, the premieres keep coming with CBS’s Numb3rs, which introduces a new member to the team and a case involving rock climbers. Meanwhile, Life continues its bizarre four night premiere. For the record, this time slot right here is where you’ll find it once it settles down.
- TLC’s wedding show Say Yes to the Dress continues looking behind the scenes at the inner workings of a bridal salon. Seriously, you people keep watching this stuff and they’ll keep making more variations on wedding shows.
- In the end, there can be only one. And right here, right now we will find out which hit ranks at the top of the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs list on VH1.
11:00p/10:00 Central
- Bill Maher keeps bringing his own inimitable approach to news and politics with a new Real Time With Bill Maher.
- Meanwhile, VH1 follows up their revelation of the top hip hop song with Rock Docs: NWA: The World’s Most Dangerous Group. Is that a hint as to who tops the list? Certainly NWA was O.G. for real!
