Reality Clack – October 27, 2008

I think I’m going to start off this week with a bit of the future. True, American Idol isn’t in season, but the best singer to never win it all (and better than many who have won), Melinda Doolittle, is going to be releasing an album in January 2009. I’ve already downloaded — bought, mind you — her single of “My Funny Valentine.” (iTunes)

A second single, “It’s Your Love,” is being released to radio stations this month. The album will be a compilation of cover songs. I’m so looking forward to this one! For a taste of the single, as well as the latest reality television skinny, read on.

If you’re interested in finding out what Melinda’s been doing, her website tells it all. It’s great to see that she’s very involved in communities. For some reason, I don’t think Jordin Sparks has quite the same ideals. The sample of “It’s Your Love” is below. Enjoy!

That Was the Week It Was

In tragic American Idol news, I was very saddened to hear about the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother. I won’t delve into it here, but thought it should be mentioned. It’s a terrible tragedy and she seems like such a good kid who cared so much for her mother.

Back to the non-reality of reality TV — can you believe that Cloris Leachman is STILL on Dancing With the Stars? Not to say I don’t give her credit, but she’s not the caliber of dancer who should be on the show past the second week! I was watching The Bonnie Hunt Show one day last week during which they showed a clip of Cloris Leachman dancing on the show. A staff member quipped, “Oh, that’s Dancing With the Stars? I thought it was Weekend at Bernie’s.”

Reality TV World reported that Florence Henderson isn’t a fan of Cloris Leachman’s “antics” on the show. Oh! Could this be a cat-fight between the 74-year-old Henderson and the 82-year-old Leachman. Now, that’s something I’d watch!

Notable Exits

If You Enjoy Reality TV …

You really should be watching The Bonnie Hunt Show. Not only does she have the teams eliminated from The Amazing Race each week and a Phil Keoghan appearance … she watches the shows! This past week she commented on her dismay that Donald Trump made someone like Omarosa into a star (I agree whole-heartedly) and Omarosa thinks Bonnie is the one who needs to learn from her. I don’t think so. Bonnie was spot on. I don’t get why or how we make folks like Omarosa into any kind of celebrity. I don’t know why Trump has such a thing for her.

Back to the Future

Speaking of non-celebrities who have somehow gained some sort of odd celebrity status … Rodney King is slated to be on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Um. Okay. Whatever.

Until next time, it’s been real if not necessarily reality.

Thanks, Jackie, for giving ‘big ups!’ to Our Girl, Melinda Doolittle’s debut single, It’s Your Love. I am the president/Head Coach of Melinda’s Street Team and also Backup #740.

Melinda told her fans all about the upcoming single from her debut CD, Coming Back To You, on our blogtalkradio program, Moments With Melinda, on Oct. 19. If you missed it, go to https://www.blogtalkradio.com/momentswithmelinda/2008/10/19/Moments-With-Melinda-Show-4 The other shows are there, as well.

I heard more than a sneak peak of It’s Your Love, The Best of Everything and Dust My Broom when I attended Melinda’s solo concert debut in Nashville (2008 Summer J.A.M.); and I can’t wait for the rest of her fans to catch a Melinda-groove like we did that night!

I invite you and all Melinda-fans to join her Street Team and be a part of music history! ;-)
