Tonight on the tube: Brotherhood returns, Army Wives leaves

Showtime

Showtime

5:00p/4:00 Central

  • At 5:30p/4:30 Central, The CW’s 4Real takes Red Hot Chili Peppers wild man Flea to Haiti to meet a rural health care worker.

7:00p/6:00 Central

  • Like something out of a movie, a man pretended to be a narcotics agent, tricked local law enforcement and proceeded to make a series of illegal arrests. Find out how he did and what happens next on a new 60 Minutes on CBS.
  • Or start getting psyched because the NFL is back on Sunday nights this week. Kick off your Football Night in America on NBC.
  • Over on The CW, check out the very real dangers of volcanologists on a new In Harm’s Way. What could possibly be dangerous about studying volcanoes?

8:00p/7:00 Central

  • On CBS’s The Amazing Race, is flirting really likely to be the  biggest problem teams could be dealing with? Apparently one person thinks so. Flirting is the name of the game on The CW’s Valentine. Tonight the gods help bring together a pair that works together in a local gym.
  • NBC kicks off Sunday Night Football at 8:15p/7:15 Central, with the New England Patriots (5-2) taking on the Indianapolis Colts (3-4). In the world of boxing, HBO continues building up to the big fight with another installment of Calzaghe/Jones 24/7.
  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition saves a family who offer a boxing gym for underprivileged teens on their farm. ABC promises guest appearances by boxing legends Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman as well. Looks like someone’s getting a new grill, too!
  • FOX begins their night of “Animation Domination” with The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XIX. Always a treat, this annual Halloween special unfortunately just missed the holiday this year. Why not do these on Halloween instead? After that, Strickland Propane goes digital by setting up a MySpace page on a new King of the Hill.

9:00p/8:00 Central

  • The domination continues on FOX with Family Guy. Tonight, Stewie gets left behind when the family takes an impromptu road trip. You’d really think it would have been Meg. Then, Stan deals with jealousy when he discovers that not only was Francine was engaged to someone else before she married him, but the guy is still alive on American Dad.
  • The History Channel keeps taking us to the ancient cities beneath our modern cities on a new Cities of the Underworld. But if cities are boring, you could always spend your night with The Biography Channel Watching the Detectives.
  • Sundance offers up a British comedy series with a new Pulling. But it probably won’t be as funny as watching the girls of Rock of Love Girls: Charm School make complete asses of their trashy selves on national television.
  • Tragedy strikes Sookie again on HBO’s True Blood. Bill continues making moves to protect her, but must pay a price for doing so.
  • When the body of a missing single mother from 1981 turns up in the trunk of a car on CBS’s Cold Case, the investigation leads to a dealership she used to work at. How do you not check a trunk for that long?
  • Lynette is suspected of cheating on ABC’s Desperate Housewives while Bobette battles the bank on a new Easy Money over on The CW. But you’re not watching that show, are you? I don’t think anybody is. You’ll be watching Dexter on Showtime instead to see if Miguel can pass Dexter’s little test and not have to die.
  • Brea Grant, known as Daphne on Heroes, is one of the stars of the latest Sci Fi original movie masterpiece. Battle Planet tells the story of a man sent to an alien world, torn between his mission and saving humanity. Sounds riveting, doesn’t it?

10:00p/9:00 Central

  • Hank discovers that Sonja and her boyfriend have an open relationship on Showtime’s Californication.
  • Army Wives may be wrapping up its second season on Lifetime, but Female Forces is still all new on The Biography Channel.
  • Food Network’s The Chef Jeff Project is also new, as is WE’s My Fair Wedding, VH1’s The Pick-Up Artist and the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers. Do you really need details about these kinds of shows? You either watch them or you don’t.
  • BBC America’s Skins really is an amazing show. If you haven’t watched it, you should. Now. Tonight. Do it. On a campout, the relationship between Michelle and Sid changes in a dramatic way.
  • HBO’s comedy block kicks off tonight with a new Entourage, where Vince deals with the jitters on his first day on set. Then, Little Britain USA offers up its first season finale after a six episode run. See, even when UK shows are doing US versions they do shortened seasons.
  • Nora goes on a quest to beat Holly to the missing Walker son on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters. The boys of The Unit, on CBS, fake evidence of a terrorist attack to reveal more information on real information. Which sounds like something Holly would do. Maybe she should join up.

11:00p/10:00 Central

  • Then, HBO wraps up their comedy night with The Life & Times of Tim. Tonight’s two shorts involve Tim showing his superintendent’s daughter “the ropes,” and Debbie trying to help him out after he messes up with his co-workers. I’m sure it’s a lot funnier than it sounds here.
