Entourage – Pie

HBO

HBO

(Season 5, Episode 9)

Man, the writers that E represents outta be pretty goddamn pissed when they find out Ed Norton was replaced by … Jason Patric. Patric is definitely a good sport for playing a certifiable nutcase (as is just about anyone guest-starring as themselves on this show), but it’s hard to imagine someone with the acting cred Vince has playing second fiddle in a Jason Patric-headed film.

Is it unusual to have writers on-set to check out how things are going? If not, where are they? I think it’s a hell of a lot more unusual to have Turtle and Drama schlepping around the set than the people credited for writing the screenplay. Then again, they’d just get in the way with their thousands of complaints.

This episode didn’t deal with E, Drama or Turtle, really, so there’s not a whole lot to go into with them. However, I still find it totally odd that Vince continually gets the OK to have these guys tag along with him during every shoot he does. Vince gets these four guys and Jason Patric, the lead, gets some meathead bouncer to order around?

Ari was the only other person really gone into within these 30 minutes. Ari’s career path is definitely an interesting one to follow, and in cases like this last episode, I wonder if he’s setting himself up to make one hell of a huge mistake, leading him back to square one again. I liked that the WGA strike was brought into the story a bit more, and one has to wonder if, in reality, the strike was something that continues to affect people in the industry so much today.

I get the feeling that we’re going to find out from Vince’s director that he was ordered to give Vince’s lines to Patrick, and it will lead back to Dana Gordon screwing Ari over after all he did for her. Seems to be par for the course for Ari, doesn’t it?

Drama: “Revenge is best served a-la-commode.”

Hi, thanks for the review. Interesting theory about Dana Gordon and the stolen lines. I didn’t think of that, but it makes sense. Also makes the director less of a bastard. Poor Vince.
As for his entourage, maybe people in the business know already that he comes wirh strings attached. It might even be in his contract.

it’s funny, because I had about the exact opposite thought myself watching the ep!

I actually thought the director did took line away from Vince because he didn’t believe Vince could pull it off, he didn’t really wanted him on the movie or something, but since Vince was forced upon him by the studio he had no choice but to have him there and pretend to be fine with it…

Plus, I don’t see why Dana would screw Ari and/or Vince like that… but who knows!

Dude have you seen anything Patric has done since LOST BOYS? this guy has been on Charlie Rose thre times talking so intelligently about acting that you would think he was a teacher. I read an acrticle where Sean Penn said he was the most underrated actor in America. I’d say that Penn is a good source, no? Ever see RUSH, AFTER DARK MY SWEET, NARC, YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS??? And youre talking about Aquaman Vince’s cred? LOL.
buddy, rent a real movie and learn a little. Patric is one of the best actors around, and he was friggin hysterical sending up his method image on ENtourage

First of all, Vince is also known for Boulevard. Secondly, you’re clearly just some Patric fanboy if you think he’s a better choice than Ed Norton.
