South Park – Elementary School Musical

Comedy Central

Comedy Central

(Season 12, Episode 13)

Maybe it was intentional of Parker and Stone to make an episode that parodied High School Musical, then, at the same time, poke fun of people who act like sheep. Isn’t that the thing to do these days, make fun of High School Musical? SNL did it a couple of weeks ago (remember Night School Musical?)

And all of that’s not to say HSM doesn’t deserve being made fun of. I haven’t even seen the movie and I can tell just from clips that the only thing worst than watching High School Musical would be to live in it.

Most of us were impressed with how quickly last week’s episode turned around after the election, and this week I’m loving the songs these guys can put together. “Do what you wanna do. As long as what you do is what everyone else wants you to.” Awesome and fitting.

This episode clearly called for a special appearance by Big Gay Al. Only Big Gal Al can out-slap Mr. “Queermo”. Classic, as was the rare Kyle hat-removal. Is he related to Sideshow Bob, by chance?

Notable quotes:

Kyle: “What happened? I thought you were going to kill yourself.”
Cartman: “I tried. Went to sleep in my mom’s car in the garage with the engine turned on.”
Stan: “But you didn’t die?”
Cartman: “Friggin’ hybrids man. They just don’t do the trick anymore.”

Mr. Queermo: “If I had a jock for a son I’d be the laughing stock of the men’s choir club!”

Kyle is based on Matt & Stan is based on Trey, hence Kyle’s ‘Jewfro’ (see old pics of Matt)
