Will you be watching your favorite shows this winter?

ABC

ABC

… Perhaps not all of them. Yesterday, I reported that ABC seemed to be dropping Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. Unfortunately, it still seems to be the case, according to the Futon Critic’s winter schedule that they published today.

OK, mourn Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money; I’m with you, at least on the DSM. But this is not a time for sadness. Instead, let’s rejoice in all of our old favorites that will be back….

OK, my favorites, but at least they are on the schedule!

Kyle XY, Mondays at 9:00 on ABC Family, beginning January 12

If we can have more intrigue and conspiracy, and less after-school special with a decent dose of the cute, then Kyle XY will have my viewership.

American Idol, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:00, starting January 13

Admit it: even if you hate AI, you still watch, at least sometimes. We’ve all got a little bit of the shower-singing superstar in us, so it’s fun to watch the dreams of these singers come true. And it’s even a little fun to be really, really mean to the dopes, only through your TV set, of course. Oh, I can just feel the bad karma flowing my way….

Burn Notice, Thursdays at 10:00, starting January 22

Michael, I miss your snappy voice-overs. Fiona, the lack of your sass has left an empty hole in my heart. Sam, banter with the gang, it moves me. A cooler cast who plays off one another’s talents so fully has never before been assembled. Can’t wait for more!

Psych, Fridays at 10:00 on USA, starting January 9

Silly fun on a Friday night … could you ask for more? Love Psych for its simplicity, or really pay attention and love it for its smart pop-culture references (usually the ’80s) and quick wit.

Damages, Wednesdays at 10:00 on FX, starting January 7

The first season of Damages was arguably my favorite show at the time, duking it out weekly with Dexter. Season two is going to be different, but they set it up so beautifully. If they even do half as much with what’s coming up as they did with last season, then we’ll have a suspenseful, character-driven powerhouse.

Reaper, slight panic attack … breathe, breathe ….

Reaper isn’t on the schedule yet, but the CW has lots of “to be announced” timeslots, so I’m breathing easily into my paper bag now. My guess is that it will show up either Friday at 9:00, or if they have any mercy, one of the Sunday timeslots. I’ve just got to have my Devil versus the goofballs each week. The back story is starting to get really, really good, and they left us last season with some — dare I say it? — Buffy-like intrigue.

There are also a bunch of new shows set to debut this winter, but that’s for another post. So never fear, you’ll have lots of great programming to choose from … just not Pushing Daisies or Dirty Sexy Money.

I won’t mourn Pushing Daisies, because although it had a great look and interesting characters/cast, the novelty wore off rather quickly for me and the stories weren’t that good.

I tried SO HARD to like Pushing Daisies but I just couldn’t get into it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Reaper–has to be my favorite new show from last year. It’s so strange to me that two of my favorite shows, Reaper and Supernatural, are on a channel that I really loathe. Don’t disappoint me CW!

God no, Reaper can’t be on Sunday or Friday. That will be a sure way to kill it, since nobody watches those nights. The CW announced long ago that Reaper will take the place of Smallville, so it will most likely be on Thursday, a much better (and easier) place for it to get its targeted demographic.

Oh, the networks think their ratings are bad now….

Just wait for Psych, Burn Notice and Damages. Those are some great shows! And, Kyle XY…I love this fun little show.

I seriously can’t believe you left Lost off this list.

But nothing will make up for the loss of Pushing Daisies. :-(

Sadly, Lost has lost me. But Bob Degon will be joining you in his Lost lovin’ — be sure to read his column, Lost in Lost here at CliqueClack, and his reviews when Lost’s season starts up again.

Shameless plug over. ;-)

I will dearly miss Pushing Daisies and I wish more people would have liked it the way I loved it. I love Chuck and Ned, Olive and Cod are hilarious and the colour and the stories have so much to offer. Come on, something different and sweet for once and they just blow if off the screens. And meanwhile people are glued to their screens to watch Dancing with stars, X factor or Big Brother, all about celebrities, money, fame…. illusions, vain and vague. I liked dreaming, like a child, with P daisies. It made me remember what it was like to read a book full of stories and fun. It seems some people can’t take series with no se*ual content, violence, constant drama or shock every second. Sweet and peaceful has become boring for many. It wasn’t for me. I’m very disappointed.
