Oh my. For a few of the reality shows, this past Thanksgiving holiday week meant it was time for clips shows. You know the promos — “with previously unseen footage.” What they don’t mention is the percentage of “already seen” footage. Alas, they’re usually outright recap shows with teensy tidbits of new footage. Goodness knows, we don’t have enough recap material at the start of each episode already!
The huge reality television happening of the week was the season finale of Dancing With the Stars. Well, that is unless you count the debut of Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood as the big event. Each has its audience.
That was the week it was
It’s all over for yet another season of the wildly successful Dancing With the Stars. I called the winner wrong as I cheered on Warren Sapp. Mind you, I said that Brooke Burke was the best dancer of the three celebrity finalists — Brooke, Warren, and Lance Bass. But I got a kick out of Warren Sapp. I know that’s not the criteria for winning a dancing contest. Lance was out first and it came down to Brooke and Warren. She won. Oh well. I’m more of a So You Think You Can Dance kinda gal. As for this season of DWTS, I think it might have been the most accident prone season and Cloris Leachman surely an unusual step to the show.
Both Stylista and Survivor were clip shows. I’ll admit that I don’t watch the former. But, had I watched it, I could have caught up on the season. In regard to the latter, the audition tape clips were definitely interesting. I didn’t realize that Crystal had blazing speed, did you? Or, to be more exact, she thinks she still has blazing speed. I suppose she did at one time, but it’s gone missing as of late.
Top Chef wasn’t only fresh and new this week, but it was seasonal as well. The cheftestants had to prepare a holiday meal for Foo Fighters. Of course, I had to watch that one! At first I thought it might be “food fighters,” but nope … it was the band and sixty of their roadies. It was off to Rochester (NY) and Swanson’s broth got some really nice product placement. Not only did the cheftestants have to cook up a holiday meal, but they also had to contend with all the vegetarians in the group. Now, there’s a challenge for you! Richard’s offbeat s’mores made with bananas and chocolate did him in and got him gone. Everyone knows that s’mores don’t have banana in them!
Sunday was the debut of rapper Snoop Dogg’s new reality show on E! — Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood. I watched it out of curiosity because Snoop is such a contradictory kind of dude. He’s been to jail for a shooting, smokes a lot of pot and doesn’t care who knows, yet coaches football to the local kids. So, I couldn’t resist seeing what’s going on with him. I was pleasantly surprised. His kids seem to be well-mannered and personable. I think the funniest part of the show was when he was talking about Joe Montana and mentioned that a young girl was disappointed that Joe was no relation to Hannah Montana. I may be giving this show another try or two. There’s nothing else on at that hour I watch.

The bid was over $5,000 but I think it’s done now. What’s that show that Goose is in that helped make Snoops new “Man Cave”? It’s freakin tight!
