(Season 5, Episode 10 – “All By Myself”)
I really loved this episode of Grey’s Anatomy. For one thing, it became clear that Izzie is either 1) seeing the ghost of Denny (because no one else can see him, but they can see her talking to an invisible being); or 2) she’s dreaming it up, because in reality she loves Alex and can’t bring herself to admit that because she’s afraid of losing him, just like she did Denny.
That second theory isn’t mine. It’s Alex’s, and I think he’s on to something. But what a guy. He says he’ll be there for her no matter what. And “if you wanna be scared, that’s ok, just be scared with me.” What girl could turn down an offer like that? I practically breathed a sigh of relief when she showed up to assist on his solo surgery.
Other stuff:
– Kay Panabaker deserves an Emmy for her guest role as the distraught sister of the car crash victim. Wow, she acted her socks off!
– I like that Lexie is getting more to do and coming into her own. That was a great scene where she encourages the post-it woman to talk, and then shows up at Sloan’s apartment, stripping in front of him. Those two have loads of chemistry. He’d be a tough one to kick out of bed, that’s for sure.
– Dr. Dixon sure is abrupt, isn’t she? It’s making me wonder if some of the docs I’ve dealt with in real life have Asberger’s, and that even if you’re a knock-out surgeon, there’s a lot to be said for a great bedside manner.
– Derek sounds like he’s ready to go on an extended fishing trip, with his “I’m sick of the death” comment to Meredith. That’d be an interesting storyline. He could take an extended leave and go fishing or whatever, and she’d come home talking about what’s happening at the hospital.
– Bailey was creeping me out when she hovered over Sloan’s surgery because it was something new and exciting. She needs to, I dunno, take a class or something.
– It’s too bad Cristina didn’t get the solo surgery when she really deserved it, but oh well, I guess she should have reported the interns for doing self-surgery instead of trying to handle it on her own.
– Quote of the week: “No hot interns!” – Sloan to Callie, on her fascination with Sadie and his fascination with Lexie.
– The Vent Scene! Wow, that was hot between Owen and Cristina, in more ways than one. It made me want to go find a vent somewhere and stand on top of it.
Your thoughts?
“Bailey was creeping me out when she hovered over Sloan’s surgery because it was something new and exciting. She needs to, I dunno, take a class or something.”
For a surgeon, watching a colleague do a new (to you) surgery is the same thing as taking a class.

Brent – That may be, but Bailey was creeping Sloan out, too. There’s a difference between observing and learning, and getting in the way!
