After tonight’s episode of American Idol, I’ll go out on a limb here and say Danny Gokey is a shoe-in to win! His version of Mariah Carey’s “Hero” was fabulous, and I thought he nailed it.
And given Danny’s sad history of losing his wife shortly before the auditions, that song was perfect. I really hope he goes the distance and ends up in the final few. He was definitely my favorite performer of tonight’s episode.
And argh, I was prepared to hate Tatiana, but her performance of Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love For You” was pretty darn good! It was weird seeing the reserved Tatiana, and unlike the judges, I really hope she stays in this sane mode rather than reverting back to the crazy girl we saw in the auditions. They even tried to encourage her to do the psycho laugh, and I’m like, “no! Don’t encourage it!” That laugh makes me want to scratch my eyes out.

The best part of the show–NPH and Ted Danson sitting together in the audience!! Most of the show was unbearable, except for Anoop and Danny.
Where’s the love for Ricky Braddy, pollsters? I thought he, Alexis and Danny were the three who should go on from last night’s performance.
Danny sounds like what I’d imagine Carlos Mencia to sound like if he sang.
Danny and Alexis are through. Michael, Anoop and Ricky will battle for 3rd (unless VFTW gets together behind tatiana, who can sing, or casey, who can look skanky). I’d say Michael (for his story) or Ricky (for his singing) are shoe-ins for the wild-card (assuming Anoop is 3rd)
Am I the only one that thinks Danny looks like a younger Robert Downey Jr.? Anyway, I thought Tatiana was actually amazing. Not a lot of people can do that song and despite some tiny flaws she was very very good. I’d like to see Danny, Anoop and Tatiana go through. I’d be surprised if those three didn’t make the top 12 (one might make it through wild card selection)

I voted for Danny and Alexis, then for Michael Sarver as my third place. We know he can sing better than last night.
I didn’t vote for Ricky Braddy because I: (1) didn’t know him; (2) didn’t think he had “the look” necessary to win this whole thing; and (3) didn’t think he had the self-confidence to be a star and win this whole thing. So for me, he’s a victim of not being profiled at all during Hollwood Week.
I also disagree about Tatiana. I thought she was a mediocre singer last night. The first girl, Jackie, (whose outfit and song choice I hated) sang much better than her.
I know, I didn’t know Ricky until last night, and that probably will hurt him. I didn’t get to know Anoop either; didn’t watch all the Hollywood stuff, but it seems he has quite a following (though he didn’t do much for me last night).
Yes, I really liked Jackie through auditions and Hollywood, but her song and outfit (um… a skanky Minnie Mouse?) were not good.
Ricky Braddy was ok, but I guess I just wasn’t amazed with the song. I didn’t know it so that’s probably why. Also, when they’re both wearing their glasses Ricky and Danny look a lot alike, don’t they? One of those shots of Danny looking backwards from the couch had me thinking he was Ricky for a second.
I thought the same thing about Ricky and Danny!
