Will 24’s CTU be making a comeback?

24-season7-premiere-part1

We’re just a few episodes into this season of 24, but so far, CTU seems to have the upper hand on, well, everything. Let’s recap:

– I know President Taylor is doing her best, but so far, her efforts have only managed to get the country in a pickle, including a mid-air collision of two planes and a near catastrophe at a chemical plant. Thank goodness Jack, Bill, Chloe and Tony showed up to set things right again.

- The President’s husband has been drugged, held hostage, and shot in the chest. Thank goodness Jack and Renee were able to track him down, take out the thugs, and call 911.

– The FBI computer and security system is a mess! Thank goodness Chloe showed up to fix things. Upon learning that the network doesn’t support remote modules (say what?), she says, “Well, that’s inefficient. Whoever set your network up that way didn’t know what they were doing.” Oops, Larry’s the one who set up the network. And really? The head guy has to set up the network. Don’t they have IE people for that?

– The President wants to go to the hospital to be with her husband. But the Secret Service hasn’t been all that trustworthy lately. Thank goodness Bill Buchanan is there and offers to be her personal bodyguard!

– The President asks Bill to find her estranged daughter and tell her what’s going on. But is there ANYone who’s trustworthy enough to do that? Why, of course! It’s Aaron Pierce! (Yeah, I know he’s a former Secret Service agent, but he’s in with the CTU gang.)

Really, isn’t it time for the President to resurrect CTU up from the ashes? It’s clear that they’re the only ones who are trustworthy, honorable, skillful and knowledgeable enough to set things right again.

Great setup for a reference to the “The IT Crowd”.

Jen/Jane IT/IE

Of course, it could just be a typo. Nah, that wouldn’t be as funny.

I think we all want CTU to come back just so we can hear those damn phones and that iconic ring. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t recognize that ring tone when it pops up on someone’s phone.

Good reasoning, except for the fact that CTU themselves had a mole in practically every past season. :)
