Who knew that WebMD could help diagnose sexual addiction? 30 Rock is both hilarious and educational.
Fresh off her relationship with Drew, Liz was treated to a visit from her nightmare ex-boyfriend, and possible soulmate, Dennis Duffy. I always enjoy it when Dennis shows up, so perfectly played by Dean Winters. He does a great job, and if you’re also a watcher of Terminator, you can appreciate it even more, as his recurring character on that show is nearly the polar opposite of Dennis.
Man, there were a bunch of great bits in this episode. I think my favorite had to be getting to see the world through several of our favorite characters’ eyes. I think the world probably would be a better place if, like Kenneth, we all saw each other as singing Muppets. Classic. Tracy apparently sees everyone as a copy of himself, and Jack just sees everything as it’s monetary value.
One of the things I love about 30 Rock, and which reminds me of Arrested Development, is the way that the show will set up a joke early in the show to exploit it later. There were a couple examples in this episode. I loved the bizarre Jenna impression that Liz did, which was vaguely British. It would have stood on it’s own as being funny, but got even funnier when Jenna later asked if Liz’s impression was British. The other example was Jack getting so happy that he vomited, or as it was later dubbed: “Jacking.” It carried through the whole episode, finally coming to fruition in the final scene (to everyone’s horror). What great writing.
It felt like there was a ton of stuff crammed into this episode, including the great return of Dennis and the subplot with Tracy “going into space.” It was another superior episode.
Some of the best quotes of the night:
“Computer, when do I get some tang? Also, I’m thristy. Wordplay!” – Tracy
“The closest I came to vomiting tonight is when I saw Anne Coulter’s shoulder blades.” – Jack
“When I was a kid growing up in the projects I would look up at stars and dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!” – Tracy
Would you rather “jack” or “lizz”?
