Eleven great character moments on Cougar Town

Even amidst all of the goofiness and hi-jinks, Cougar Town's characters are real and three-dimensional. And they deliver more one-liners than I can transcribe.

- Season 1, Episode 15 - "When A Kid Goes Bad"

I’m not really sure what to say about this episode. It seems I was too busy laughing hysterically to really come up with anything brilliant and insightful. Cougar Town just keeps getting better. The characters, while staying true to themselves, are full of surprises and luscious one-liners. While I’d not plan a dinner party for any of them in the near future, they are welcome on my TV screen anytime.

It appears counter-intuitive that there can be character development in a cast full of seemingly immature dopes, but there’s some real complexity at the heart of these friendly neighbors. Let’s revisit the great character moments from tonight’s episode, “When a Kid Goes Bad.”

Ellie

“Wheres Jules? Andy and I are going on a romantic couple’s lunch and we want her to come with us.” – Ellie. And there it is, the one quote I actually wrote down, from the very beginning of the episode, before my laughter overcame me like The Plague.

Jules

The master of TMI: Did we really need to know there are two hairs growing out of your C-section scar? Oh, and she gets bonus points for falling for Jazz Sharks.

Grayson

Not into the “manscaping,” but he makes up for it with the Valentine’s Day lights display.

Andy

Did we previously know that Andy had a foot fetish? Yeah, that fits. Between his lustful look when he found out Jules was getting a pedicure to finding out that Laurie was “honey toes,” Andy was a freakish delight.

Bobby

Trash raccoons, the secret cover of sneaky husbands everywhere.

Laurie

Pulling a joke on the jokester. It was fun to see her bonding with Smith’s dad over the engagement ring turned heart attack joke.

Travis

I love the way Travis isn’t “street wise” to his parents yet. His innocence is adorable and he’s oblivious to the fact that they are playing good dad / bad mom with him and the drinking.

Smith

Wasn’t he deliciously fresh to Jules when they first met? Can a guy be sassy?

Smith’s dad

The last time I saw Barry Bostwick, he was a washed up old magician on an episode of Supernatural. Every single thing he did as Smith’s dad slayed me. I think my favorite part was when he said his own name during the introductions, just because he liked the sound of it. Crazy quirky.

Again, I have to apologize for missing the quotes, but I could have literally transcribed the script, this episode was so flipping funny. Please, share your favorites in the comments so we can all laugh again.
