Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is back! Want a HDTV to celebrate? Sure you do.

'Millionaire' has changed the stakes a bit this season, and to mark its return we're giving away a 19-inch LCD HDTV and 'Millionaire'-branded items to one random commenter. It could be you!

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has returned to TV this week, airing five days a week! The show has made some notable changes to how things run, though. For example, the $50,000 question has been eliminated, so there’s one fewer hurdle for a contestant to jump. There’s also this (from a release):

Millionaire will now be played in two rounds. Round One, consisting of the first ten questions is where we’ve made some big changes to game play. For those questions, both difficulty and dollar values are now randomized to create greater drama, risk and reward for both contestants and viewers. Now, the first question of the game could be worth as much as $25,000, and quite possibly paired with the easiest question of the day.

There’s an added bonus to these first ten randomized questions – the dollars are cumulative, enabling contestants to make bigger money, faster.

Once a contestant gets past the exciting first round of questions, we’re into Round Two where the ultimate goal remains the same – to take home the million dollar grand prize. First, however, contestants will still face the $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000 questions. With winnings of this magnitude, Millionaire remains the richest game show on television.

So, to mark this occasion, the folks at Millionaire are providing us with some prizing for one of our readers. One random commenter to this post will receive a 19-inch LCD HDTV, a Millionaire-branded calculator, mug, pen and t-shirt.

To enter, simply leave a comment below with something meaningful about Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Entries to this giveaway must be made by Friday, September 24th at 5 PM ET. We’ll pick one comment completely at random and alert the person picked in the following weeks (make sure your spam filter allows @cliqueclack.com addressed email!) Only one entry per person and you must have a valid U.S.-based mailing address. Not following these guidelines voids your entry. Good luck!

(You can track some of our most recent giveaway results on its dedicated page.)

Where is Regis and his power ties?

September 14, 2010 at 10:08 AM

When Regis Philbin was the host I found myself terribly addicted to this show. It’s my kind of show, though…. skill based. I hate shows like “Deal or No Deal” that require no skill and are just “coin flip” after “coin flip.”

September 14, 2010 at 10:11 AM

I entered to be on the Regis version of Millionaire. Answered the first question by phone (“Cell phone manufacturer Nokia is based in what country?” ” Finland.) But then didn’t get a callback to the next round.

September 14, 2010 at 10:15 AM

I really like Meredith Viera as host. The real advantage Regis had is that it was obvious that he knew very few of the answers where Meredith knows more answers and can’t let it show.

Does the randomizing mean that there will now be a throwaway question just popping up at any time?

Also – Didn’t anyone at Disney*ABC notice that their URL uses the same initialism as Don’t Ask Don’t Tell? DADT

“for those questions, both difficulty and dollar values are now randomized to create greater drama, risk and reward for both contestants and viewers. Now, the first question of the game could be worth as much as $25,000, and quite possibly paired with the easiest question of the day.”

Great new twist!

September 14, 2010 at 10:42 AM

I really thought this show was gone, but with the new changes, it could become a must watch or DVR show again….

September 14, 2010 at 11:04 AM

No it couldn’t… :-(

September 14, 2010 at 11:17 AM

I remember when this show started up, it was the first of the era. Too bad none of the other game shows that this spawned ever stood up to it.

September 14, 2010 at 11:27 AM

I love free stuff!

September 14, 2010 at 11:40 AM

I want this and that is my final answer.

September 14, 2010 at 11:52 AM

Loved this show during the Regis Philbin years! I enjoy the useless knowledge I’ve picked up.

September 14, 2010 at 12:24 PM

Love Millionaire not just for itself, but the influence on pop culture (SNL spoofs – go for the goat! go for the goat! and Slumdog Millionaire, just to name a couple).

September 14, 2010 at 1:39 PM

Glad to see this is back on primetime. Great show with great questions.

September 14, 2010 at 3:15 PM

I remember when the show used to be a simple hit instead of changing the format every year to get more viewers.

September 14, 2010 at 4:08 PM

Hopefully changing it up will bring in more viewers. It still is a great show. I would love to see some contestants win a million or at least some big money in this horrible economy:)

September 14, 2010 at 4:15 PM

I like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire because it requires real knowledge, not just dumb luck to play.

September 14, 2010 at 4:30 PM

I love this game. My family and I love to watch it and we all take guesses at the answers. My kids really get a lot right and their learning too.
Thanks for this giveaway!

September 14, 2010 at 4:33 PM

After seeing the show, we bought the board game. It’s fun to play on long afternoons with extended family, and it’s nice to have some friendly competition.

September 14, 2010 at 5:13 PM

I like that they are making it easier to win a million, adding new features and life lines. It’s good to change it up once in a while

September 14, 2010 at 6:34 PM

I love watching Meredith Viera as the host because she has such a presence and dialogue with the contestants.

September 14, 2010 at 7:21 PM

Changing things around is a good idea so as to keep it from becoming stale.

September 14, 2010 at 7:44 PM

I have always loved watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire with the family & trying to guess the correct answers!! grammypennyann@yahoo.com

September 14, 2010 at 8:03 PM

My kids and I liked to watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire when Regis Philbin hosted it. I like Meredith Viera, but it is just not the same without Regis.

September 14, 2010 at 8:26 PM

I won’t mind seeing it on TV again. But no one will ever beat Regis.

September 14, 2010 at 8:30 PM

My Mom talks about the show all the time and she thinks Meredith Viera is doing a great job.

September 14, 2010 at 10:28 PM

We like to watch Who Wants to Be A Millionaire as a family. Not only do we learn something, but we have fun guessing the answers together.

September 14, 2010 at 10:48 PM

I was at Disney world the very last day the WWTBAM attraction ran and yet I missed getting in because I thought it would remain open another day.

September 14, 2010 at 10:52 PM

Entertaining show!

September 14, 2010 at 11:56 PM

I loved watching the celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millonaire. Norm MacDonald was my favorite.

September 15, 2010 at 4:03 AM

Good family show to watch and guess the trivia

September 15, 2010 at 5:27 AM

I have watched Who Wants to Be A Millionaire ever since Regis was the host. It is a show that maintains my interest everytime I watch it!

September 15, 2010 at 6:00 AM

We enjoy watching it as a family–glad it’s back.

September 15, 2010 at 7:01 AM

I remember the first winner of Millionaire. He was so calm and cool about it, making a phone call to his dad telling him he already knew the answer but wanted to tell him he was going to win a million dollars :).

September 15, 2010 at 8:12 AM

I like when the celebrities come on and answer questions.

September 15, 2010 at 8:14 AM

I like Meredith so much better than Regis as a host

September 15, 2010 at 8:40 AM

This is a great show that my whole family loves watching. We are very competitive so we like to try to beat each other.

September 15, 2010 at 8:47 AM

Who wants To Be A Millionaire has helped bring our family together at night for years. That is as meaningful to me as anything can be. :)

September 15, 2010 at 11:12 AM

I love watching Meredith Viera!

September 15, 2010 at 12:29 PM

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is a great show and also very educational.

September 15, 2010 at 12:43 PM

It’s a really fun game show.

September 15, 2010 at 1:25 PM

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is a fun show to watch with other people to see if you could have been a “millionaire” if you were in the chair.

September 15, 2010 at 1:44 PM

i watch this show with my grandaugther, she is a honer roll student, and we have learned many things from this!!!

I used to watch this show _a lot_ when I first started. Now, I can’t be bothered.

September 15, 2010 at 6:41 PM

Its a good show to watch when in the mood for guessing trivia answers

September 15, 2010 at 7:51 PM

I always watch this show in the evening when I come home from work

September 16, 2010 at 7:39 AM

I like to watch with my family and try to compete for the answers.

September 16, 2010 at 10:23 AM

We enjoy watching this show and trying to answer along and it’s fun to see someone win! Thank you!

September 16, 2010 at 1:36 PM

My husband and I made a hobby of trying to get on the show. We called all the time when they had the phone line game to qualify. My husband actually made it to the show, but not to the hot seat. I qualified many times, but never was chosen to be on the show. Then they switched to auditions, and though I passed the multiple choice question test, I never made it to the show. Still wish I could have a chance to be a millionaire!

September 16, 2010 at 1:41 PM

this would be great

September 16, 2010 at 3:02 PM

I used to do the phone game all of the time! I love the show- I learn so much from it!

September 16, 2010 at 3:02 PM

I always learn something from the show
Thank you

September 16, 2010 at 3:33 PM

I love trivia game shows- I just wished Who Wants to be a Millionaire was a little more fast paced.

September 16, 2010 at 4:09 PM

I love to watch trivia games. I used to watch the show when they had the primetime specials and wonder how those people had such FAST FINGERS in the fastest finger part of the competition.

September 16, 2010 at 4:30 PM

We have watched this show for years. I have to admit I’m not liking the changes too much, but I suppose I will get used to them. I always enjoy seeing Meredith Viera–she seems like such a warm, genuinely nice person.

September 16, 2010 at 4:31 PM

Somehow, this show only became bearable when I watched the contestant being beaten and interrogated by Anil Kapoor between rounds…

September 16, 2010 at 4:34 PM

It was fun for our entire family. We don’t sit together to eat dinner, but we do enjoy the show together.

September 16, 2010 at 5:58 PM

I watch WWTBAM every single night!

kport207 at gmail dot com

September 16, 2010 at 6:40 PM

My mom never missed an episode. She loved the show. She passed away 3 years ago and I always think of her when I watch it now.

September 16, 2010 at 8:51 PM

This is such a fun show!

September 17, 2010 at 12:10 AM

I’ve been pleasantly surprised this show can be fairly commonly found on flat-screens in the waiting rooms of doctor’s offices in my area — MUCH nicer than the usual cliche collection of 20-year old National Geographic mags. There HAS to be some kind of advance warning for those “who you gonna call” lifelines (are those going to still be there?) — otherwise people would be responding “hang on, let me pull over…” and holding up progress (and eating into commercial time).

September 17, 2010 at 5:22 AM

I remember the first time this show got a million dollar winner- the contestant didn’t use any lifelines until the million dollar question. He used the phone a friend lifeline and called his dad and told him he was going to win the million. Then he hung up and gave the right answer. I thought this was a classic game show moment.

September 17, 2010 at 9:26 AM

My whole family enjoys watching Millionaire. I remember my son being so excited when he was able to answer a “Pokemon” question- no one else knew the answer. Thant made his day!

September 17, 2010 at 4:58 PM

I used to watch this, but haven’t watched in a long time.

September 17, 2010 at 8:10 PM

I love the show and try a guess the answers

September 18, 2010 at 12:48 AM

This program originated in the United Kingdom, where its original name was “Cash Mountain”.

September 18, 2010 at 3:04 AM

A very cool prize.

September 18, 2010 at 12:12 PM

One of the contestants lost in the game on the first question.

September 18, 2010 at 3:07 PM

I love Meredith as the host!

September 18, 2010 at 3:19 PM

The trivia always makes you want to know more.

September 18, 2010 at 4:46 PM

This show is great. When it first came out many years ago, I tried to get on so many times by calling in & answering trivia questions. I think you had to answer three questions to be considered. I could never get past question 2.

September 18, 2010 at 4:57 PM

Rosie O’donnell was once a celebrity contestant on the show-she is very smart!
smchester at gmail dot com

September 18, 2010 at 5:20 PM

I used to watch the show when it was on prime time, but haven’t seen it in years. The new format sound like a great way to shake things up and make it more exciting. I’ll have to check it out.

September 18, 2010 at 5:34 PM

Members of their studio audience must be 18 years old and older.

jas8929 at gmail dot com

September 18, 2010 at 7:58 PM

I am glad they eliminated call a friend.

September 18, 2010 at 9:56 PM

I still remember the first show where the guy wins the million. But, before answering the question, he pretends to need a lifeline and calls his Dad only to say he just wanted him to know he just won a million dollars! Classic!

September 19, 2010 at 11:37 AM

I enjoy playing along with the contestants! I really like Meredith as the host of the show!

September 19, 2010 at 11:50 AM

I watch the show whenever I can, and like how the changes will enable contestants to make bigger money, faster. The host, Meredith, does a great job of making the contestants comfortable and keeping the audience engaged.

September 19, 2010 at 11:56 AM

I am always surprised at how hard the questions can be sometimes.

Yipppeeeee! Millionaire and Netflix are partnering for a sixth edition of Million Dollar Movie Week.

September 19, 2010 at 9:04 PM

I think that Meredith does an excellent job of hosting the show.

September 19, 2010 at 9:58 PM

I really enjoy Meredith as the host…and we so love playing along at home. Not only is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire a totally fun show to watch, it’s educational also and I love that my children enjoy watching it with me.

Thank you for a super fun contest !!

September 19, 2010 at 10:34 PM

I would love to be on this show.

September 19, 2010 at 11:53 PM

I glad when they implemented the clock to force people to actually make a choice. It always drove me nuts when people would take 10 minutes on the hour long version to make a decision.

September 20, 2010 at 3:38 AM

i think this is a great show, i’d love to get on but i wouldn’t get far i doubt

September 20, 2010 at 11:17 AM

I love Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

September 20, 2010 at 3:11 PM

When Millionaire first came on the air, I applied to be a contestant, but no luck. It’s still fun to watch, though!

September 20, 2010 at 7:38 PM

I have been watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? since the very beginning!

September 21, 2010 at 2:34 AM

I enjoy the show the new way, but it also seems like the contestants don’t win as much!

September 21, 2010 at 2:38 AM

I had not watched TV game shows in years because they had become so boring and easy, not to mention goofy with all the costumes and sound effects. Who Wants to be a Millionaire brought me back to game show viewing.

September 21, 2010 at 7:07 PM

love Meredith and there’s always something to learn

September 22, 2010 at 12:19 AM

i’d totally choke if i was up there

September 22, 2010 at 10:40 AM

I love to watch Millionaire with my lunch. Millionaire challenges me.

September 22, 2010 at 12:17 PM

This is one of my favorite shows. My mom watches as well.

September 22, 2010 at 12:26 PM

I think it’s interesting that they are going to randomize the difficulty of the first round of questions…fun!

September 22, 2010 at 12:45 PM

People should go with their first reaction, and not overthink.

September 22, 2010 at 1:57 PM

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is one of the few game shows I watch. Thank you for the great give-away.

September 22, 2010 at 2:28 PM

I like to watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire because it is educational, exciting and I love Meredith Viera.

September 22, 2010 at 3:23 PM

Who Wants to be a Millionare is a show that puts your brain to work and is fun to watch and play with other people.

September 22, 2010 at 6:01 PM

I always like to imagine it’s me sitting there, to see whether I’d win or not.

September 22, 2010 at 6:33 PM

This is a really good quiz program but if it was me I know I would choke, its much easier to answer the questions in the comfort of my own living room.

September 22, 2010 at 9:03 PM

One of my favorite shows.

September 22, 2010 at 9:46 PM

I always laugh at myself while watching millionaire because I never know the answers to any of the questions, not even the “easy” one’s.

September 22, 2010 at 10:19 PM

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire always challenges me. Thanks.

September 22, 2010 at 10:42 PM

I love when when someone decides to stop and finds out that they didn’t know the next answer. It’s so sad when they lose, though.

September 22, 2010 at 10:44 PM

This show is so much fun to watch, I love it when I know the right answer.

September 23, 2010 at 12:01 AM

It such a great show. It is no wonder that it has been on so long!

September 23, 2010 at 12:25 AM

It is a lot of fun to watch

September 23, 2010 at 1:15 AM

Fun to watch and a great way to test your knowledge!

September 23, 2010 at 1:17 AM

I think it would be great if they had a similar trivia contest on their website that whent along with the show!

i just love this show! knowing the answers makes me feel smart and when I do not know something I learn! :)

September 23, 2010 at 6:55 AM

Love all the trivia and sometimes I can even get some right

September 23, 2010 at 10:05 AM

I have been watching this show since it started years and years ago

September 23, 2010 at 10:08 AM

I think the best thing about WWTBAM is that you feel so bright when you know the answer (especially if the contestant doesn’t). I have no doubt that if I ever appeared on the show, however, I’d be hard pressed to answer any of the questions.

September 23, 2010 at 10:27 AM

I love watching people that can really use the money or are going to put it toward a good cause win.

jweezie43[at]gmail[dot]com

September 23, 2010 at 12:41 PM

I love Meredith but I wish they would bring back the night version with Regis and the fastest finger question more often.

September 23, 2010 at 1:04 PM

I love Regis when he hosted Who wants to be a Millionaire. My family and I would all try to beat the time on the silly questions that they would ask at the beginning of each show.

September 23, 2010 at 1:10 PM

Love Who Wants to be a Millionaire! Always fun to watch but I’d be too nervous to ever be on the show. I just know I’d forget even my name!

September 23, 2010 at 1:59 PM

its very educating for my whole family, including kids

September 23, 2010 at 4:40 PM

I can’t imagine the stress the contestants must be under when answering questions. I know once in a while people can ask me something simple, but my mind just goes blank!

Thanks for the giveaway!

September 23, 2010 at 5:07 PM

I love Millionaire and Meredith is my favorite! We like watching as a family and seeing who can answer correctly first.

September 23, 2010 at 5:47 PM

My wife and I love ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’! One of ‘our favorite’ Game Shows! We both enjoy playing along at home!

September 23, 2010 at 7:13 PM

I love this show. This week celebrities are playing and all the money will go to The Alzheimer Foundation. What a great cause!

September 23, 2010 at 7:56 PM

great way to spend time with family!!

September 23, 2010 at 8:42 PM

I got so sick of Regis, they had him on like 5 nights a week there for a while. I was glad when Meredith took over.

September 23, 2010 at 8:45 PM

I was an expert watching in my livingroom, but I’m sure I wouldn’t get one question right if I was really in the hot seat. Learned a lot from the show.

September 23, 2010 at 9:13 PM

At Disney’s MGM they have Who Wants to Be a Millionaire play it. I remember going there when I was a kid and being so excited because I thought that it was the real show. It’s a great show, I love it.

September 23, 2010 at 9:38 PM

Used to watch this show with my husband when my son was a baby. It was our evening every night. Now I watch it with my son. He’s going to be smarter than me pretty darned soon.

September 23, 2010 at 9:44 PM

This show is so entertaining, I always learn something new.

September 23, 2010 at 10:30 PM

love the show and Meredith. Wish it would air in primetime once a week.

September 23, 2010 at 10:30 PM

I love this show. I always try to guess the correct answers and usually the one that I know is the one people get wrong.

September 23, 2010 at 11:17 PM

It really teaches you a lot of information.

September 23, 2010 at 11:44 PM

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is an awesome show. It’s the one show that brings my family together for quality time.

September 23, 2010 at 11:48 PM

Something meaningful about the show to me: I have never seen it.
Thanks for the contest.

September 24, 2010 at 12:18 AM

I like the idea of Millionaire, but I can’t stand to watch it because of the long pauses while the contestants think and remark over how they know the answer. It’s irritating. I like a more fast-paced game like Jeopardy.

September 24, 2010 at 12:20 AM

it’s liked by young and old in my family

September 24, 2010 at 12:30 AM

I recently read that Regis holds the Guiness record for the most time on television, and some of those hours where from this show.

September 24, 2010 at 12:47 AM

This is such a fun show to watch with family or friends. I always cringe for the poor contestants who don’t know the answers to the first few questions that are usually pretty easy, but I know it’s got to be such a high pressure situation that it would be easy to blank out on an easy one. Thanks!

September 24, 2010 at 1:15 AM

I haven’t seen any of the new season yet, but I have heard the commercials about the new features/changes and I want to check it out!

September 24, 2010 at 2:37 AM

Its another way for me to see Meredith after watching the Today Show.

September 24, 2010 at 3:04 AM

I started watching this in 1999 at age 14, and I’m about to turn 25, and it’s still one of my favorite shows to date. It entertains and educates all at the same time. I love it.

September 24, 2010 at 6:02 AM

Thanks for the giveaway…we miss the prime-time “event” that “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” used to be in it’s heyday; they should have a prime-time special every year with a 5 or 10 million dollar prize !

September 24, 2010 at 7:44 AM

I really enjoy watch this show!

September 24, 2010 at 7:51 AM

My husband has recently been given medical retirement and he watches the old re-runs he missed the first time around and can’t wait for the new season.

September 24, 2010 at 9:17 AM

I never miss an episode. I just wish I was as smart as the people on it!

September 24, 2010 at 9:24 AM

I love watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and think it’s not only fun rooting for the contestants but trying to guess the answer myself (and I’m usually wrong)

September 24, 2010 at 9:49 AM

I love Millionaire. It is a great teaching tool for my kids.

September 24, 2010 at 9:49 AM

I love watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire because it’s fun to see how many answers I know and it helps keep my brain sharp.

This may not be meaningful, but since “Slumdog Millionaire” I can’t say or hear the phrase, “Who wants to be a millionaire” without it being in Anil Kapoor’s accent.

I want to be a Slumdog Millionaire!

I think the basic formula of “Millionaire” will always work – especially with likable, genial hosts like Regis and Meredith have been – but at the same time, I love the new changes to the format, especially the randomized questions in the first round, which add even more drama to the mix. Thanks!

Watching this show makes my mind stimulated. I love Meredith and watching her interact with the contestants is enjoyable.

Im interested to see how the new changes increase the number of big winners. Cant wait to see the new lifeline.

I think Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was largely responsible for bringing back game shows back to primetime. I think EVERYONE was watching it when it first debuted!

September 24, 2010 at 11:07 AM

I really loved this show when it first came out and tried to get on it numerous times. Since the time slot changes, etc. I just haven’t watched it as much.

I love Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! I love Merideth too. I loved her since she was on the View and we share the same birthday!

I’ve enjoyed Who Wants To Be A Millionaire all these years, I wish I was a contestant! I checked out their new format and I like it too of course :D I do think it’s bizarre that they stand up now tho!

September 24, 2010 at 12:38 PM

I like the older versions of Millionaire. The new one is taking some getting used to. I think mixing up the values of the questions makes it a lot harder. I’ll still watch it though, I like the trivia of it all.

I love Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! It’s such a great show and its fun to test your knowledge with the trivia!

September 24, 2010 at 3:19 PM

After the first show debut I worked for a company that did preliminary screening for contestants. Some people were so angry when they didn’t make the cut.

We watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire as a family and we all love trying to answer the questions. I like the older version better because I think it’s just more exciting. It seemed to keep us on the edge of our seats more. Great game show!
