Bleep My Dad Says – Avoid old people, eat cheap and “holla!”

Watch it! You never know who might be 'packin' the boysenberry....

- Season 1, Episode 3 - "The Truth About Dads And Moms"

The Hotcake Corral, baby. That’s where I’d like to host my next party! That place is a gas!

One of Ed’s favorite dining establishments is a cowboy-themed pancake house — a thinly-veiled front for a gay hangout. Ed, though, is completely oblivious to this fact. What fun! Every time some bit of sexual innuendo or racy euphemism is let loose, the staff at the Hotcake Corral (a trip of a moniker in and of itself) yells out “HOLLA … !!!” and all the patrons clink their water glasses with silverware. It’s all about the party the Hotcake Corral, let me tell you! (Out loud guffaw moment of the episode: Ed mentions something about a 12″ cucumber and, of course, all the waiters shriek “HOLLA … !!!”)

And! Come to find out one of the servers at the Hotcake Corral is none other than Tim (the DMV worker in the pilot episode of Bleep My Dad Says who fudged Ed’s driver’s test so he could pass). Seems he got canned from the DMV for helping Ed out with that little ‘assist’. If that weren’t enough, Ed gets Tim fired yet again from Hotcake Corral! Ed is anathema to the poor guy!

But it all works out in the end: Ed, a seemingly big teddy bear in disguise, hires him as his housekeeper. Everybody all together now: “Aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwhh … !!!”

So … we find out Ed has been harboring a secret in this episode: His ex-wife cheated on him rather than what his son Henry has been led to believe since he was a kid, that Ed cheated on his mother. It’s as if each episode we find out Ed is nothing but a softy beneath his fishing jacket, not the curmudgeon he’s been made out to be. (For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to catch the show yet, it really is a feel good program when all is said and done.)

A question for all of you out there: Is anyone — anyone -- annoyed by Bonnie, Henry’s sister-in-law? Because I am. She’s just not working for me in this program. She’s whiny and strange and out of sync with her husband Vince. It’s as if they don’t connect with each other in the least. I can’t even glean a single thing that may have originally attracted one to the other. It’s a head scratcher.

Anyone else get that feeling?

I Don’t like Bonnie and Vince at all, the show would work fine without both of ‘em.

. . . . .

I agree with you, Jens. Nothing redeeming about them at all yet.

Well … ‘cept for the fact Vince likes cheese. I mean: Who doesn’t like cheese … ???

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm … cheese . . . . . . .

I still wonder how they’re going to keep this going… the premise is a bit thin.

. . . . .

No clue, Kwizgiver. Let’em launch it, let’s see what they have to offer and we’ll go from there.

Whether we’re on board with the show or not, that’s what’s going to take place, so I’ll go along for the ride out of curiousity …
