It’s Thanksgiving, a time for families to gather and be thankful for all of their blessings. Well, except on Desperate Housewives. This week we learned why Susan can’t bear to hear Lynette’s baby cry herself to sleep — she has to listen to MJ cry himself to sleep every night because he misses Mike. While Lynette was consoling Susan, Tom and Renee started discussing old times. Will Renee try to seduce Tom? I certainly hope not since he and Lynette are the only stable couple on the block. Meanwhile, Bree’s invitation to Keith’s parents for Thanksgiving dinner ends in disaster as they fight throughout dinner with a demand for divorce making this a much more eventful dinner than anyone expected.
Two major plot developments did happen this week. First, Gaby and Carlos invited Hector, Carmen and Grace for a traditional, Mexican Thanksgiving dinner but Gaby forgot to pick up the pies. Hector offered to drive her to the bakery but an accident was putting them dangerously close to closing time. Unfortunately, Hector followed Gaby’s directions and tried to avoid the traffic and got stopped by the police. And surprise — Hector and Carmen are illegals. Hector has already been deported, apparently, and Carmen is next unless she disappears. Now, I don’t know if someone forgot the whole plot point here with Grace being Gaby’s biological daughter and Juanita belonging to Carmen, but Gaby seemed concerned that Grace could be deported as well. Hello! She’s your daughter. It’s Juanita you should be worried about! Unfortunately, this story — which I haven’t been a fan of since it started — is taking an unpleasant turn as Gaby sees this as an opportunity to keep Grace while Carmen goes on the lam. I’m surprised she hasn’t just packed Juanita’s bags and sent her off with Carmen.
The other juicy story that continues to develop is the Paul/Beth/Felicia triangle. I loved finding out Beth is actually doing Felicia’s dirty work by pretending to love Paul and gain his trust so she can get evidence implicating him in Martha Tillman’s murder. But as Felicia predicted, having a sexual relationship with Paul is making Beth stupid and she is beginning to believe he’s innocent. He’s also doing a great job of convincing her that Felicia is the crazy one — she did cut off her own fingers to implicate him, after all — without even knowing of her and Beth’s true relationship. Watching Felicia flip out as she realized she was losing control of Beth was a pretty awesome end to a rather dull episode, and I just wish Felicia wasn’t behind bars so she could get more involved in flushing out Paul and his guilt. I hope that between now and whenever the next episode airs, she catches a few episodes of Prison Break and plans her big escape!
