Desperate Housewives – Felicia sets her plan in motion

Two marriages are on the rocks and Felicia Tilman sets her plan for revenge into motion as the season finale fast approaches.

- Season 7, Episode 19 - "The Lies Ill-Conceived"

Felicia drags Mrs. McClusky into her scheme

I’ve been up and down with Desperate Housewives this season, but this week’s episode was pure delight because there was a lot more humor in this episode, and it was consistent throughout the show.

As much as Tom and Lynette bug me, I enjoyed this plot with Tom getting invited to a major conference and Lynette being part of his invite. For Lynette, though, it turned into a nightmare when she learned she was barred from attending any of the main functions because she was a plus-one. Bob and Lee were also at the conference and Lee showed Lynette all of the fun things they had to do like flower arranging and spa visits, but Lynette wanted to see a particular speaker. I enjoyed seeing Lynette try to organize the other plus-ones but the moment cocktails were introduced, she had no choice but to cave to the power of the booze. The classic moment came when she stole someone’s pass and it turned out to be the woman’s who was to introduce the guest speaker. Needless to say, Tom was not happy and when they got home the rift caused by Lynette’s actions was widening. It took some words from Renee (and will Vanessa Williams ever be integrated into the group as an equal because as it stands now she has less screen time than Mrs. McClusky) to realize that Lynette has to get used to being ‘the wife’ if she wants the marriage to succeed.

There was a bit of goofiness with Susan and she began experiencing sex dreams about Paul Young, but her dreams turned to concern as she saw the state of her house and went to talk to Paul over Mike’s objections. We don’t know at this point if Felicia has been checking in on Paul, but there is definitely something wrong with him. Felicia, meanwhile, showed up on Mrs. McClusky’s doorstep with a gift of thanks for helping keep her secret – the one that eventually led to Paul’s arrest for Felicia’s ‘murder.’ I had forgotten that Karen had known about Felicia planting her fingers in Paul’s car those many years ago and didn’t say anything because she also believed Paul had murdered Felicia’s sister. Felicia is setting her plan for revenge in motion by dragging Karen into her plot with a slightly revised version of Beth’s involvement with Paul and her subsequent suicide, blaming it all on Paul but leaving out her own shunning of Beth as well. Karen seems to have bought the story, but will she also become a casualty in Felicia’s plan?

Carlos has forbade Gaby from associating with Bree after the revelation of her duplicity in covering up Andrew’s part in his mother’s death, but the two women found it extremely difficult to stay apart. I though this was one of the funniest parts of the episode as they first talked on their cell phones like clandestine lovers who had been found out, and then again when Gaby just happened to walk into Lynette’s house while Bree was taking care of the plants while the Scavos were away. Bree revealed her affair with Karl and how they would sneak away to a little motel and that gave Gaby the idea to have them meet at a spa for the weekend while Carlos thought she was at a funeral. Gaby almost slipped up when she brought a piece of Bree’s pineapple upside-down cake home, and claimed it as her own creation for which Carlos demanded that she make another one while he watched. Thanks to the miracle of Bluetooth technology, Gaby was able to get step-by-step instructions from Bree on what to do and I laughed out loud when Gaby said she was talking to her grandmother’s spirit to get the recipe. The cake was a disaster but Bree was also baking one and they cleverly swapped them out behind Carlos’ back. Unfortunately, a tell-tale red hair blew Gaby’s funeral story and the night ended with her choosing her friendship over her marriage.

With the season finale fast approaching and two marriages possibly on the rocks, will there be more single ladies on Wisteria Lane next season?

“So, post-transplant sex, huh?  If it’s as good as my post-cancer sex, you’re in for a treat.” – Mrs. McClusky unnerving Susan with a little TMI

“I remember you like your coffee the same way you like your men … strong and Irish.” – Felicia to Mrs. McClusky

“So how did you get out of jail so soon?  Was it good behavior or bad behavior with the warden?” – Mrs. McClusky
“Oh Karen, how I’ve missed your frank and salty questions.” – Felicia

“Is it common for patients to have sex dreams about the husbands of their dead donors?” – Susan
“I have to admit I did not see that coming.” – Dr. Lippman
