Call me cold, but I’m not going to miss Jessica walking onto the American Idol stage to do her thing. It’s akin to my dislike of Ashthon Jones from last season … but the difference is Jessica can actually sing.
Wait … WHAT … ?!??! What are you talking about Michael? Because last time I checked it was Joshua who was eliminated from the Top 3 on Idol, not Jessica.
That’s okay. It will happen soon enough. Jessica will finally get the boot. And “soon enough” is next week during the finale against Phillip Phillips.
See … I’ve be proselytizing the entire season to everyone — ever since Jessica made it into the Top 13 — that I believe she doesn’t have what it takes to be THE American Idol this season. Fantastic voice, powerful at times, beyond her years certainly … but too many tics and hiccups and more in it to be consistent, likeable and worthy of the season 11 crown.
That’s okay. They’re ushering her right up to that winning doorstep … but they’re not going to let her in.
It should have been a duking between Joshua and his buddy Phillip². That would have been the better finale.
Here me right now: No matter what Jessica does during next week’s finale, it won’t be enough to topple her opponent. Remember that.
You almost got there, Josh. Sorry you missed out. In the interim, let’s hear from him one last time doing his nifty rendition of James Brown’s classic:
Notes:
Let me get this straight – you liked Lisa Marie Presley’s performance, you didn’t like Adam Lambert’s performance, and you are thinking like Jimmy Iovine. It must be a man’s world, because I certainly don’t understand it.
However, I sincerely hope you are right about Jessica not being the American Idol. Now that the perfume is out of the bottle, I don’t think we are going to be able to avoid seeing Jessica prematurely thrust into making records. But I would like to think America recognizes the unique artistry of Phillip Phillips over the unseasoned talent of this exotic child.

. . . . .
No! I didn’t like Lisa Marie’s performance. It was just “there” … nothing spectacular. And it was awkward … strange direction for her. She looked drug-induced. I can’t even comment it was better than Adam’s. Just different.
I know, I know … I sound like a broken record already when it comes to Jessica. But I’m holding steadfastly to me belief. I’m not worried about her making records – that’s a given. I don’t want to see her win, however. And that’s not a worry … because she won’t.
Adam Lambert’s techno glow yellow nail polish, earrings and T-shirt were enough to make me slightly nauseous. And what was that strange device on his pinkie? It looked like a coke spoon.
I too, thought Lisa Marie was kinda cool. It was nice to see someone not screech a tune at me from the Idol stage.
I was ecstatic that Joshua left.
I’ve never seen his appeal. But then again, in your face over the top gospel music ain’t my thing.
Phil to the second power can win if he picks the right tunes like he did last week with “Volcano.”
My only comment…Lisa Marie sure looks like her daddy…down to the way she curls her lip. Then End!
Mikki, did you see the lip curl at the end on Adam Lambert? Gina, I would have said Adam Lambert looked like Elvis in drag.
I know Adam is too young to be Elvis’ love child, so I’m rethinking my position on reincarnation.
Joshua was the best singer left, so it figures he wouldn’t get to the final. If the public chooses Jessica that’s understandable – after all, she can sing really well, and her genre is easy for the masses to digest. The question is, can she overcome the power of Phillip Phillips’ down-home charm? He’s got the x-factor! (Oops.)
Lisa Maire looked like Elvis in Drag. So much like her daddy.
Michael, please stop saying Jessica is going home….maybe your jinxing us. I do not want her to win but every time you say she is going she stays. Stop I say!!!
………… I’m with Gina….. STOP IT!!! (Lisa Marie did look like her Dad in Goth-drag. Hell, ADAM looked like Lisa’s Dad in drag too. *urp*)
I was hoping for a Phillip/Joshua finale…… Unless they both pull a rabbit out of their hat, next week going to be pretty anti-climatic. Love him or hate him: Joshua should have been there.
Believe me I wish it was Joshua there instead of Jessica.
Anyone else notice this was the second (maybe third, maybe more?) week in a row that Philip did not participate in the Ford commercial? I thought ALL contestants were required to participate in ALL the responsibilities that come with being a finalist. A few weeks back the show even mentioned that Philip has been getting (faking) “sick” whenever he was supposed to fulfill any of his non-live tv obligations. Don’t they make these kids sign some sort of contracts? I like Philip okay, but I think it’s bullshit that the producers are letting him skip all this stuff while the others are happy to comply…

banderweir:
Rumor has it – and it’s just a rumor without confirmation – that his health issues remain an obstacle. Kidney stones and dialysis are the two culprits that keep making the rounds. I have been unable to substantiate these rumors, but there is a lot of talk of them going around.
The Powers That Be don’t just let the Idols do whatever they want. They are under an obligation to fulfill certain duties … within reason. I’d be willing to bet it’s more important for Phillip to perform and be on the eliminations shows rather than be on set all day wearing himself out on a Ford commercial shoot.
